

The National Curriculum Before the ERA, it was felt by some that there was too wide a curriculum offered by different awarding bodies which needed to be brought into control.

The ERA introduced four major changes to the British education system: It was believed this would raise standards, since people would choose successful schools and leave unsuccessful ones to go out of business.Ĭomprehensives were considered to not offer parents much choice to parents, and this is why Grant Maintained schools and City Technical Colleges were introduced.
